Teacher Pay Could Increase Without Upping Class Sizes: Public Impact® Analysis

July 24, 2012 – This Huffington Post article highlights Public Impact®’s recently published financial analyses of three reach extension school models. The analyses demonstrate how, by redesigning teacher roles to allow excellent teachers to reach more students, schools can free funds to pay those teachers up to 40 percent more for teaching roles and up to 130 percent more for teacher-leader roles. In some variations, all teachers in a school can earn substantially more, within budget. The article concludes with a recent study showing that U.S. teachers currently earn less than 60 percent of the average pay for full-time college-educated workers, compared with 80 to 100 percent in many other countries.
